The Prose of Cons

Mortal man had served his God, the life he lived devout
Until the times tested his faith, and left him full of doubt
He felt that he had quite enough and climbed the highest peak
So that he may vent his rage, then proceeded to speak

Man asked God about his love, “so why’d she have to die?”
The lord replied, “this shit’s not easy, like to see you try”
“And what of famine and disease, what of suffering, of war”
The Lord said, “I’m immortal and I tend to get bored”
“Is there no end to these atrocities we don’t deserve”
God said “that’s all your doing son, I only observe”

Conversation confirms speculation….
Grief directly feeds belief

“Please help me understand, you’re love omnipotent”
The lord spoke back, “what do you think, that Mary gave consent?”
“Jesus conceived by rape, and not a love from thee?”
Jehova jeered, “she liked it, and she did submit to me
It’s you who sing the psalms, carry on like perfect pawns
Doin’ your worst while quoting verse, reciting prose of cons”

Boundless powers, the weak get devoured…
Shame explains his acclaim

So you just sit and witness cruelty unjustified
While we are tasked to receive reward only once we’ve died
Man said, “I’ve spent my entire life trying to satisfy
A deity that doesn’t care for me, it’s all a lie
My hope, it grows, although Lord knows, some may see a setback
I gather all the power I gave to you and take it back”

Goddamn…I said Goddamn… I said Goddamn…I Said God…
